  2. A pattern of control is applied.
  3. First, the beam is deflected
  4. to aim at the top left corner
  5. of the screen. Then it is moved
  6. from left to right. When it hits
  7. the right edge, it is turned
  8. off, and aimed at the left edge
  9. again, but a little bit lower.
  10. Then it is once again swept from
  11. left to right. This is repeated
  12. over and over again until the beam
  13. sweeps the bottom row from left to
  14. right.  The whole procedure
  15. happens again and again 60 times a
  16. second.

  20.    A monochrome picture is entirely
  21. composed of dots, so anywhere there

  25. turned on during its sweep, and
  26. where the picture is supposed
  27. to be dark, it is turned off.

  29. if the picture stays the same,
  30. they are relit when the beam

  33. of dots are lit up.

  39. Each sweep of the gun can
  40. light up any of 640 locations
  41. from left to right. The gun
  42. makes a total of 200 sweeps
